As I embarked on my journey to Shimla, the winding roads, surrounded by lush green forests and snow-capped peaks, immediately captivated my senses. Upon reaching, I was greeted by the colonial-era architecture that dotted the city, showcasing its rich history and heritage. The Mall Road, the heart of Shimla, is a bustling street lined with shops, cafes, and charming boutiques. Strolling along this vibrant promenade, I indulged in some retail therapy, picking up exquisite handicrafts and local souvenirs.
A visit to the Viceregal Lodge, once the summer residence of the British viceroys, transported me back in time. The grandeur of the building, coupled with the beautiful gardens surrounding it, made it a must-visit attraction. The Shimla State Museum provided further insights into the region’s history, showcasing a remarkable collection of artifacts, photographs, and paintings.
One of the highlights of my trip was a ride on the Shimla-Kalka toy train, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
